Do Your Homework

The Perks

No different from anything else, different Thoroughbred partnership companies offer different levels of service, different levels of involvement, different partner experiences. Some operate with a "low frills" type partner experience. You'll receive scant communications from management, unanswered phone calls and emails, little or no interaction at the racetrack on race days, etc. Put another way, you'll buy into the horse and then be on your own. On the other side of the spectrum, some partnerships will provide five-star service. They will always be available to speak with you via phone or email, they will provide constant and continual news and updates about your individual horse or horses, will act as a concierge in making arrangements at the racetrack for you and your guests, and some may even specialize in making your ownership experience a social experience with the other partners and their friends and families. Before you invest it's best to find out what your partnership company provides and how they provide it. Ask questions, speak with current partners, and even ask to attend a race before you become a partner so you can see for yourself firsthand.
